First ICCC Held with Support from UN’s World Meteorological Organization (WMO)

Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Surakarta, hosted the International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC) with the theme “Adaptation and Mitigation Strategy for Sustainable Life,” from November 30 to December 1, 2016. The conference, organized by UNS’s Postgraduate Program, attracted around 120 participants, including invitees and keynote speakers from four countries, with support from the United Nations’ specialized agency for weather, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The keynote speech was delivered by the President of WMO, Mr. David Grimes from Canada. Other main speakers included Dr. Omar Baddour, a representative of the WMO Secretary-General from Geneva, Switzerland, via videoconference; Dr. Andi Eka Sakya, Head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG); Prof. Dr. Takeo Onishi from Gifu University, Japan; and Prof. Dr. MTh. Sri Budiastuti from UNS.
